The course is based in Willow Creek, a town of 200 people located right on the Jefferson River. We are lucky enough to have the nicest people, the Willow Creek Cafe - the best ribs in Montana, and naturally, the heart of trout fishing right out our back door.
Wade fishing classes will be held on a private section of Willow Creek itself. That is enough information. You will be a privileged angler after your exposure to Willow Creek.
The dates are perfect for early hatches and hungry fish. These great western rivers offer all styles of fly fishing. You can focus on one large sipping fish or cover water from the driftboat with nymphs and streamers. We will start in flat water and move to sections of the river that are a bit more challenging for the rower. This is a learner-paced course.
You do not need to be an expert fly fisherman to treat yourself to this opportunity! The focus is on guiding, but many people take the course with no intention to guide. If you do want to guide, we are very connected to lodges and outfitters that call us every year for recommendations.
We use Clackacraft Drift Boats, Sage Rods, Rio Lines, Action Optics Sunglasses and savvy skills to get the job done. This is a very popular school. If anyone would like to talk with any of our past students, they would be thrilled to share their experience. Let us know.

Rowing and fishing will include the Jefferson and the Missouri Rivers, close to town. If you love Lewis and Clark historical stories, this is the place. We are talking about the Headwaters, where the Madison, Jefferson and Gallatin join to make the Missouri River. Ideal conditions for learning to row, and honing your skills for some dandy wild trout. The renowned Jay Buchner teaches entomology and students rave about what they learn. The Reel Women Guide Team loves to teach casting and show off on occasion, so we will show you what we know.
